Recent ranking highlights the top grammar schools in Debrecen
The National Grammar School Ranking, based on the latest education data for 2026, has been published. The ranking, created in cooperation with Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) and the Office of Education (OH), presents the 100 best grammar schools in Hungary, which was first published in February 2025 as a supplement to Mandiner (Hungarian news portal and weekly newspaper).
Based on the most up‑to‑date data, a more comprehensive and detailed grammar school ranking is published each year, with the primary aim of providing thorough information for prospective students and their parents. The ranking can also serve as an interesting point of reference for institution heads, teachers, and even educational researchers. The performance of the grammar schools that achieve the best results is recognized by the MCC every year in a solemn awards ceremony.
When compiling the MCC-OH National Grammar School Ranking, the publicly available data of 400 schools available at the Education Office was examined along seven different professional criteria, which can be found in a detailed breakdown and presentation, arranged by year, on their website.
The national list is led this year by the Budapest Fazekas Mihály Practice Primary and Grammar School. The top 10 is dominated by institutions from the capital, with only the Lovassy László Grammar School in Veszprém and the Budai Ciszterci Szent Imre Grammar School in Budaörs making it among the Budapest schools.
