Debrecen’s first BMW deliveries are underway — and demand is exceptionally high
At the ceremonial handover held at BMW Welt, the first German customers took delivery of their BMW iX3 models manufactured in Debrecen. The event was attended by Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, as well as Jochen Goller, Board Member responsible for Sales. The vehicles were handed over in an exclusive setting by Christian Ach, Head of BMW Group Germany, as announced by the company.
The launch of the new BMW iX3 is a milestone for the BMW Group: as the first model of the Neue Klasse, with sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, a range of up to 805 kilometers and charging power of up to 400 kW, it sets a new benchmark in efficiency and long-term usability. The new electronics and software architecture, consisting of four high-performance “superbrain” computers, makes the BMW iX3 more intelligent and future-proof than ever before. The Heart of Joy drivetrain and driving dynamics control delivers previously unseen dynamism and precision, while the latest generation of automated driving systems perfects the cooperation between human and vehicle.
“Customer interest is already enormous: since the world premiere, in Europe every third ordered fully electric BMW has been the iX3 model, therefore production ramp-up is being accelerated and the second shift is being launched much earlier,” said Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board Member responsible for Customer, Brand and Sales.
Among the first lucky customers, Lena Gercke said she has been driving BMWs for a long time, but the iX3 creates a particularly harmonious impression. Design, aesthetics and cutting-edge technology are in perfect balance.
Kostja Ullmann travels a lot due to his work, so he needs a reliable companion. The BMW iX3 convinced him from the very first moment; in addition to the design, he chose it because of the many innovations and the long range.
Christoph M. Herbst stated that he has been driving an electric car for ten years. “From today, finally the real one. I can hardly wait to set off with it.”
Following the world premiere and the successful start of production, the official market launch across Europe will begin on March 7: the cars will be available for viewing at dealerships and for test drives.
At the Debrecen plant, based on the monthly report of the HR Portal and the Opten company information service, more than three thousand people are already working, while recruitment is continuing.
Based on BMW’s career website they are currently accepting applications for 50 positions, including team leaders and specialists for several production units, maintenance technicians, car mechanics, as well as a tax expert.
