The Next Decade Belongs to Skilled Workers
The Debrecen Vocational Training Center evaluated the past six months.
Around 13,000 students from the region study at the 11 institutions of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC), with wo Debrecen-based institutions among the country’s top 10 vocational training institutions. According to experts, vocational training can only be successful if its content is defined by economic partners and if students are presented with a real vision of their future in the labor market. “If someone wants to study in vocational training in Debrecen, we can provide them with a training partner, a dual partner, and we can offer a future perspective in the labor market, whether in a large corporate environment or among SMEs,” Zsolt Tirpák, Chancellor of DSZC, said.
At the vocational training center’s mid-year staff meeting, it was also discussed that until now the goal of developments has been to reach as many students as possible and to ensure that every field provides the specialists needed by the economy. To achieve this, further strengthening of training programs is necessary. “Increasingly deeper knowledge is required to understand and operate this technological development; our students are capable of this because our instructors have risen to the challenge and are able to pass on the knowledge required,” Director General Sándor Szilágyi said.
The city’s future is not decided exclusively in industrial parks, but where the foundations of knowledge are laid. In the coming years, a skilled workforce will be the truly great value, as stated by Lajos Barcsa at the staff meeting. The Deputy Mayor believes that the city’s future depends on whether it can provide the economy with a sufficient number of well-trained professionals. “I believe we have set a good direction for the city’s future. We are not thinking in terms of mass relocation, but in the knowledge we see in young people and educators, and your work is not only an institutional task, but also a service of national economic significance,” he pointed out.
At the event, among other things, the professional results of the past semester were evaluated, and the directions of development achieved in vocational training as well as future goals were also discussed.
