Cleaning Works Begin for Parking Areas in Debrecen

Cleanliness and orderliness in the city is a high priority for the Municipality of Debrecen.

As part of these efforts, regular and coordinated cleaning works are arranged in paid parking areas, on roadways, and on service roads as well.

With the help of service providers entrusted with public cleanliness tasks, the municipality regularly collects scattered litter and removes dirt accumulated along curbs and around drainage points. These efforts help improve the cityscape and enhance traffic safety.

The cleaning of parking areas includes the full cleaning of the entire parking area and its immediate surroundings. During the works, foreign materials accumulated along the roadside and at the edge of the pavement (dust, gravel, composted leaves, weeds growing from cracks in the curbs) are removed using both mechanical and manual methods. As part of the cleaning, parking ticket machines are also cleaned and disinfected with chemicals. In order to remove dirt accumulated over the winter, parking area cleaning works begin throughout the city even before the spring major cleaning operations. The works are carried out according to a schedule. In order to ensure comprehensive cleaning, this is done by closing parking areas in sections, while still maintaining continuous parking opportunities despite the closures. The work is being carried out through the cooperation of the Green Area Department and the City Operations Department of the Mayor’s Office of Debrecen, the Debrecen Public Area Supervision, DV Parking Kft., and the specialized contractors responsible for cleaning

Taking residents’ convenience into account, the phased parking closures and cleaning works will affect the daytime period from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Evening parking may take place as usual.

On February 16, 2026, the works will begin in the Ispotály and Vargakert districts.

In order to maintain the cleanliness and livability of the city, the Municipality of Debrecen kindly asks drivers to leave the affected parking spaces and road sections free during the time of cleaning, in accordance with the traffic restrictions, signage, and the cleaning schedule below. In doing so, they can assist the company responsible for maintenance in ensuring that public areas remain orderly and that the works can be carried out smoothly.

During the works, cleaning will be carried out by closing one side of the parking area in the given location, thereby ensuring that parking remains possible on site. If there is another parking option directly next to the parking area to be cleaned, the entire affected parking area will be closed.

Schedule of curb and parking cleaning works:

02/16 (Monday)
Salétrom Street along its entire length, on both sides
Ispotály Street along its entire length and half of the parking areas between the buildings, as well as half of the connecting road behind the tower building
