Déri Museum Opens Chamber Exhibition Titled “New Treasures in the Museum”
The exhibition presents collections development as one of the most important aspects of the museum’s work. The exhibited objects entered the institution’s ownership in various ways; some were received as donations, others were purchased, and some were discovered by archaeologists.
The aim of the exhibition is to draw attention to the fact that anyone may possess objects that are no longer useful to them but could help to present the past in a museum context.
“There should be an opportunity for people to gain some kind of experience from history. Not merely knowledge, but some form of experience. Objects can convey more than a textbook or a scientific article, which is why we wanted to show what has entered the museum’s collection in recent years in one way or another,” emphasised Lajos Lakner, Deputy Director for Research at Déri Museum.
