Sziget-kék Playground Now Ready for This Year’s Season
Many people took advantage of the sunshine on Tuesday morning at the Sziget-kék playground. With the arrival of good weather, more and more people are visiting the city’s largest playground.
The park’s surroundings are still being improved, but the traces of winter have already been removed, and the maintenance of the playground equipment has also been completed.
“The park is beautiful, and the daffodils and other flowers are in glorious bloom. New playground equipment will also be arriving soon, so in a few weeks’ time, visitors to Sziget-kék will already be able to see preparations for developments,” highlighted Zoltán Váradi, Managing Director of Nagyerdei Kultúrpark Nonprofit Kft.
Sziget-kék functions not only as a playground but also as a community space, hosting numerous programmes again this year. These include educational programmes related to responsible pet ownership and animal protection, implemented through cooperation between the municipality and operator Nagyerdei Kultúrpark Nonprofit Kft. Through a grant program established by the foundation Közös ügyünk az állatvédelem, Debrecen has won HUF 10 million for animal welfare measures and awareness-raising events.
“We believe that the idea of responsible pet ownership should be taught at the earliest age. The final stage of our programme will take place at Zoo Debrecen, where we will target secondary school students. We want to show them how the zoo operates,” said animl welfare officer Edina Szilágyi.
On March 28, Sziget-kék hosts a spring welcoming family event, featuring dog shows, concerts, and the heroes of Paw Patrol, among other attractions.
