Developments Continue in Pallag
Several developments have already been completed in the district: pavements have been constructed, streets are being asphalted, a pedestrian crossing is being planned, and a new postal point has opened, making everyday life easier for residents.
A number of further investments were also discussed at the Pallag community forum. In consultation with local residents, city leaders have designated the location of a new central playground, which will be built in front of the football academy.
Mayor László Papp emphasised that preserving the liveability of the district remains a priority for the future, and therefore the municipality does not support further expansion of residential areas. “At the most recent council meeting, we decided that the municipality will not support any additional residential developments. There are sufficient vacant plots in Pallag, and it is important that alongside construction we also focus on liveability. The transport system and overall quality of life must remain in balance with the number of residents,” he said.
The Barackvirág residential park is now almost complete. At the initiative of residents, a pedestrian crossing is planned at the corner of Mezőgazdász Street and Szelényi Street to improve traffic safety. Planning has already begun, and the crossing could be completed by the end of the year or early next year. Improving access to the nearby retail store was also an important consideration. “The construction of the pavement was a request from residents, as the busy road made walking difficult and hazardous. The pavement was completed this year, and we can see that many people are using it,” highlighted city councillor Róbert Juráskó.
Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa noted that a significant budget is available this year in Debrecen for road construction, from which Pallag will also benefit. “A total of HUF 2.1 billion is available for the construction of new roads in Debrecen, and a significant portion of this will be used in Pallag, including for the asphalting of Fekete István Street,” he added.
With the support of the municipality, a postal point has also been opened in the district, meaning that Pallag residents no longer need to travel to the city centre, for example, to collect registered mail.
