Experience‑Packed Spring Break for Families in Celebration of Debrecen City Day
In the spirit of City Day – 11 April, we will celebrate Debrecen together over five days, from 7 to 11 April 2026.
This festive series offers one of the most colourful and experience‑rich programme selections of the spring break. Its central locations, Kossuth Square and Dósa nádor Square, bring together respect for tradition, shared community experiences, and the cultural diversity of the city.
The programmes are designed with families in mind, ensuring that visitors of all ages can find exciting activities throughout the spring break. One of the key messages of Debrecen City Days is that the values of the past and the communities of the present together shape the city’s identity. This is reflected in the folk art demonstrations, performances by local art groups, and the festive events.
Visitors can explore traditional crafts, join community activities, and enjoy a rich cultural and entertainment offering, including:
- Spectacular folk dance performances and dance houses
- Live concerts – including performances by Heni Dér, Fruzsi Erdős, and Zoltán Mága
- Craft fair and artisan demonstrations
- Folk playground and children’s activities
- “Open City Hall” – a time‑travel experience to the 17th century
- Community experiences and gastronomic tastings
This five‑day celebration offers meaningful family time through cultural experiences and shared moments during the spring break.
