EVE Power Strengthens Presence in Debrecen through R&D and Dialogue
EVE Power Hungary Kft. has officially joined the Hungarian Battery Association (HUBA). In doing so, the company has reaffirmed its earlier commitment to dedicate 2026 to strategic partnerships, with the stated aim of deepening research and development, regulatory dialogue and public education initiatives.
Recruitment launched by EVE Power Hungary Kft. in Debrecen in January is currently progressing at full speed. The company aims to expand its workforce by 400 new employees by the end of 2026, thereby laying the foundations for the safe launch of future manufacturing processes. The company is primarily seeking technicians, engineers and administrative professionals for its 45-hectare facility, which will operate as a supplier to BMW Group.
Through the recruitment drive, the company aims to prepare production operations and establish stable plant processes, with a particular reliance on the local and regional workforce. The company remains committed to employing local labour, as demonstrated by the fact that currently 93 per cent of its employees are Hungarian nationals.
“2026 is the year of partnerships for EVE Power. We aim to establish our presence in Hungary not merely as a technology investor, but as a long-term and responsible partner. Joining HUBA is of key importance to us, as this platform provides the framework for industry knowledge-sharing and support for social dialogue,” said Ádám Kovács, Head of Public Relations at EVE Power Hungary Kft.
Both the company and the association’s leadership regard the membership as an important milestone in strengthening cooperation and industry dialogue.
“The leadership and membership of the Hungarian Battery Association view it as both welcome and highly significant that EVE Power, one of the world’s largest and most innovative battery industry companies, has decided to join our association. Since its establishment, the Association has been working to develop a domestic battery industry value chain that is environmentally sustainable and capable of generating high Hungarian added value. We are delighted that the innovative and committed colleagues of EVE Power will become our partners in this forward-looking professional endeavour,” said Dr Péter Kaderják, Managing Director of the Hungarian Battery Association.
HUBA membership is based on three strategic pillars: innovation and R&D, professional regulation, and social dialogue and education. The company is already cooperating with Hungarian research institutes, while discussions are under way with the University of Debrecen regarding a long-term research and development programme.
In addition, EVE Power Hungary Kft. is taking an active role in regulatory dialogue concerning the battery industry and remains committed to transparent communication and public education, including planned visits and presentations during the construction phase.
The Hungarian Battery Association is one of the key players in implementing the National Battery Industry Strategy 2030. Through the accession of EVE Power Hungary Kft., Hungary’s domestic battery industry value chain is being strengthened by an innovation-oriented company with global experience.
EVE Power Hungary Kft. is the Hungarian subsidiary of EVE Energy, which is building its Debrecen plant through an investment worth approximately HUF 400 billion. According to the plans, the facility will manufacture next-generation lithium-ion battery cells for the electric vehicle industry, with mass production expected to begin in 2027 following the trial production phase.
