Art Week Begins in Debrecen

Art Week is being organised in Debrecen for the third time through the collaboration of exhibition venues, NGOs, educational institutions, art schools and private individuals.

For four days, contemporary fine art takes centre stage in Debrecen as the third Art Week gets under way.

The programme series opened with the exhibition “In Memoriam István Burai.” The painter, who passed away nine years ago, would have turned 75 this year. Visitors can get to know István Burai through his works at the New City Hall Gallery.

During Art Week, which runs until Sunday evening, exhibitions will open at several venues across the city. What the exhibitions have in common is that visitors will be able to discover contemporary works at all of them.

The artists include both acclaimed professionals and students. As part of the festival, visitors can also take part in guided exhibition tours, studio visits and workshops. On the closing day of Art Week, the 35th Debrecen Spring Exhibition will open at the Bényi Gallery.

Full Art Week programme available here.
