School Year Ends and Summer Holidays Begin for 33,000 Children in Debrecen

Across the institutions of the Debrecen School District Centre, more than 1,100 eighth-grade pupils are now leaving primary education. Around 1,000 students have been admitted to secondary schools in either six- or four-year programmes, while from September approximately 1,250 first-grade pupils will begin their school journey within the district.

The final school bell rang at the Lorántffy Zsuzsanna Primary School. The youngest pupils were the first to bid farewell to graduating eighth-graders, who even found time for a refreshing break during the heat. First and second-grade pupils then closed the school year with a flea market and shared activities.

Graduating students then walked to the school’s main building, where they were bid farewell by higher year groups. Seventh graders prepared a humorous programme for the departing students, who were challenged to identify classmates based on descriptions compiled from their shared school memories.

At Lorántffy, 31 students are now leaving their primary school years behind. The final school day was already marked by a holiday atmosphere, although those wishing to improve their results still had the opportunity to do so.

“Teachers are still assessing the final project work, and we are filling in missing grades. For weeks now, class teachers have been coordinating with subject teachers regarding behaviour and diligence marks as we prepare for the grading conference. In the days leading up to this, classification exams were already taking place for students studying abroad or on individual learning plans,” explained Headteacher Ildikó Czifra.
