Authority Suspends Work at Three CATL Facilities in Debrecen

The Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office continues to impose the strictest requirements on the factory under construction, which has not yet begun production. As a result, it also rejected the application for an occupancy permit for the cell manufacturing facility, the office said. The authority ordered the suspension of operations after CATL Debrecen reported elevated nickel exposure in nine employees.

An on-site occupational safety inspection found that the factory had failed to provide its employees with adequate protective equipment. As a result, work was prohibited until the irregularities are rectified in the areas of the cathode and anode foil laser-cutting facility and the anode and cathode foil winding facility within the cell manufacturing building, as well as in the cell drying facility.

The Government Office is doing everything in its power to ensure that the battery factory complies with the law and therefore imposes the strictest requirements during its regulatory procedures. In line with this approach, it also assessed the applications for occupancy permits for the cell manufacturing building.

After the investor submitted the required supplementary documentation, the occupancy permit for the first phase was granted on 25 August. However, the permit for the second phase had already been refused on 19 August because the completed building had not been properly shown on the site plan.
