Debrecen Duo Become Europe’s Second-best Team in Robot Systems Integration at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026
The Hungarian team finished as the second-best European team in the Robot Systems Integration competition at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 held between 22 and 27 September, taking sixth place overall among the 20 participating countries. “The hard work of our students, Károly Kis and Dániel Vígh, was recognized by the judges with a Medallion for Excellence,” the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen wrote on its Facebook page.
Unlike in previous years, the medals will be presented this year upon their return to Hungary at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.
Hungary’s overall result was also outstanding: across 25 skills, the country won one gold, three silver medals and 10 Medallions for Excellence. With these 14 medals, Hungary finished in an impressive 13th place among the 65 participating countries.
Gyula Korsoveczki, assistant lecturer and one of the students’ trainers, said he was extremely proud of the students. “I also want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to my fellow trainer, WorldSkills and FANUC expert István Bíró, with whom we succeeded in raising the students’ knowledge acquired at the university to the level of the world elite. I hope this performance will set a tradition for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen at future WorldSkills and EuroSkills competitions,” he emphasised.
The university provided a day-by-day account of the competition tasks.
