“Hello, Profession” Introduces Next Generation to Most Sought-after Careers in Debrecen
Featuring almost 70 exhibitors showcasing the full range of vocational training as well as the numerous companies partner educational institutions involved in dual training programmes, “Hello, Profession – Path to the Future” began yesterday at Főnix Arena. The two-day event gives visitors a taste of vocational education and other further study opportunities, as well as the growing range of employment opportunities in Debrecen, through interactive professional and company presentations.
The Debrecen Vocational Training Centre offers more than 70 sought-after professions at its 11 institutions and provides dual training opportunities in cooperation with more than 250 partner companies. Students from across the region came to learn about vocational training and career opportunities. As vocational education in the 21st century also requires modern facilities, such as a comprehensive development project at the DSZC Brassai Sámuel Technical School that now awaits a government decision on the necessary funding, after which construction can begin. “This is not simply a matter of repainting or carrying out minor renovations. According to the plans, the existing building would be completely refurbished, a new five-storey wing and sports hall would be built, and 18 modern training workshops would be created,” said Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa.
The Vocational Training Centre offers competitive professions across 22 sectors. Technical fields remain the most popular, but new sought-after vocational training areas are also emerging in line with the growing diversity of Debrecen’s economy. “At the moment, technical professions are still the most sought-after: those in electronics and electrical engineering, specialised automotive engineering and mechanical engineering are particularly in demand. We can already see, however, that commerce, the creative industries and logistics will also continue to grow, and these areas will be needed to support the further development of the economy,” said Director General Sándor Szilágyi.
Hello, Profession awaits Year 8 students and anyone interested in vocational training at Főnix Arena until Tuesday afternoon, with interactive professional and company presentations offering a taste of vocational education and other further education opportunities, as well as the growing range of employment opportunities in Debrecen.
