First DBSC Business Services Forum Gets Under Way in Debrecen
Technological development, changes in the labour market and cooperation between companies are among the topics discussed at the first DBSC Business Services Forum in Debrecen. The two-day event aims to bring together local business services providers to share their experiences and jointly explore solutions to the challenges of the future.
“This venue has symbolic significance as it illustrates the role the business services sector plays in Debrecen’s economic life, the opportunities for links between the University of Debrecen and businesses, and the direction we are working towards together: the future, development and growth,” said Tünde Kis, Director at PwC Hungary.
The DBSC roundtable was established in 2018 through cooperation between eight multinational companies operating in Debrecen. Since then, the companies have continued to work together to strengthen the local business services sector. “We have not fully made use of the opportunity to share the vast amount of knowledge that has accumulated within these companies here in Debrecen. One of the most important aims of today’s event is to share that knowledge and encourage even greater cooperation. I’m delighted that we have found partners who share this ambition,” said Róbert Hosszu, Managing Director of Emerson/NI.
Alongside PwC, the county organisation of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) is also involved in the cooperation. One of the main objectives is to bring small and medium-sized enterprises into the initiative and further strengthen the city’s economic ecosystem by sharing the expertise of large corporations. “Our aim going forward is to establish comprehensive cooperation between the three sectors. We want to learn from multinational companies and adopt as many productive tools and practices as possible through building business relationships. This will help develop the entire area and region,” said Károly Balogh, President of VOSZ in Hajdú-Bihar County.
The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency also took part in the forum. According to Deputy Chief Executive Officer Marcell Németh, the Hungarian economy now faces new challenges: productivity and added value must be increased, while small and medium-sized enterprises need to be more closely integrated into the operations of multinational companies.
