24 December Becomes Public Holiday in Hungary
Earlier today, Parliament unanimously approved the Tisza Party’s bill making 24 December a public holiday in Hungary. According to the explanatory statement, 24 December is an integral part of the Christmas festive season in Hungarian society and a particularly important day for families to spend time together, prepare for the festivities, and observe community and religious traditions.
Declaring the date a public holiday will provide a predictable legal arrangement and also mean that making 24 December a day off will no longer depend on changes to the annual working schedule around public holidays.
