There’s nothing like indulging in refreshing ice cream as the temperature rises. Debrecen offers a delightful array of ice cream parlours, each serving unique flavours and creations.
Join me as we explore some of Debrecen’s best spots to satisfy your ice cream cravings.
I’d love to head straight to one of my favourite ice cream spots, Szőke Cukrászda (Hatvan Street 6). During warm weather, they set up a terrace outside where I can enjoy views of the Reformed Great Church. I always go for the pistachio and salty caramel flavours, but there are plenty of other options, including lactose-free and sugar-free. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a sweet treat on a sunny day.
I recently walked around the Fórum Shopping Center and discovered Primavera Fagylaltozó (Csapó Street 17.). This spot is perfect for ice cream lovers with its charming yellow-striped canopy. Although there are no tables, I could easily enjoy my ice cream on a park bench or while exploring the city streets. It was a delightful find during my stroll.
Thirty-eight years of experience tell the story of Annuska café (Address: Piac Street 30). They offer indoor seating with tables and an outdoor terrace under the trees, offering a view of the Great Church on the horizon. In addition to freshly brewed ice cream, you can enjoy Tuscan coffee.
I recently visited Cousin Fagyizó, which is located at Bethlen Street 47. The portions were generous, and the prices were pocket-friendly, so it’s a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
I recently discovered Mandula Confectionery, a delightful place serving customers since 1986. They offer famous traditional cakes, coffee, and artisanal ice creams in a delectable selection of flavours. There are two locations in Debrecen: one is nestled in the heart of the Great Forest (Ember Pál Street 23), and the other is adjacent to the Csokonai Theatre (Liszt Ferenc Street 10). I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!
If you’re in Debrecen, you can’t miss out on the unique ice cream flavours at Black Sheep Coffee (Csapó Street 6). From Raspberry-Basil to Ecuadorian Chocolate, they have something for everyone. These handmade delights are perfect for exploring the city or taking a break from your daily routine. Did I mention that they also do delicious snacks, cakes, and coffees?
So, as you see, from classic gelato to innovative creations, Debrecen’s ice cream scene promises a treat for everyone. Whether exploring the city centre or venturing off the beaten path, indulge in a scoop of joy at one of these delightful ice cream spots.
