Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days coming to Debrecen again in August
60 wineries, 180 musicians and a world-famous headliner will be present at the Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days.
A spectacular music and dance production enriched the press conference of Hungary’s oldest jazz festival, Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days, which awaits wine lovers and jazz enthusiasts to the Great Forest between the 8th and the 11th of August. The festival will showcase 6 wine regions and 20 wine districts, with 60 wineries.
The jazz line-up will be showcased in three music venues, with experimental musicians and well-known masters taking to the stage.
“Good wine is a great community-builder and speaking of wine and jazz, without good wine, I’m not sure so much good music would have been created,” Head winemaker at Holdvölgy Estate in Mád, Bianka Jákób said.
The festival is specifically geared towards swing and funk with around 180 musicians from 35 bands creating the atmosphere. The Djabe band will be joined by former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.
This year, the organisers are also introducing new features, including a walking wine tour, a wine painting workshop and a jazz dance workshop.
Réka Mészáros, managing director of Főnix Rendezvényszervező Kft, said that they would like to give more space to dance. Based on feedback from past years, this was an area where the visitors felt they could do more at the event. This year, the most danceable jazz genres will also feature.
According to Mayor László Papp, the Wine and Jazz Days are an important and quality event for the city. “Not a mass event, but a more quality event for the city, which is partly about gastronomy, but mainly about music and jazz,” he pointed out.
The festival offers a discount for those with the Debrecen City Card. More information is available on the festival’s website.
