The new programme of Dorkász Service wants to help seven hundred people in difficult situations

The AHA programme aims to reach hundreds of people in Budapest, Debrecen and Székelyhíd. The ReFoMix Nonprofit Transition Home for Families in Debrecen currently houses 22 families, a total of 80 people. They will also be part of the programme.

“Their advocacy skills are low and the patterns they use to solve their problems are not appropriate, so any kind of assistance is important for these families,” Head of the Family Transition Home  Mercédesz Bulátkó Leiter pointed out.

In Debrecen, the Family and Child Welfare Centre has been providing transitional care since 2023. The institutions on Böszörményi Road and Mester Street currently have a total of 64 beneficiaries. They will also have access to the AHA programme.

Re-integration of pre-school and school children, psychological sessions and training will also help families in difficult situations.

“It takes many years to change things that are already ingrained or badly ingrained. These programmes, as well as our internal services, the family support services, of course, help families, “ Head of the Family and Child Welfare Centre Aurélia Ibolya Orosz said.

In addition to donations, the aim of the programme is to give people in difficult circumstances an “AHA experience”. So, in addition to the usual donations of food, school supplies and other items, training, psychological catch-up sessions and lifestyle coaching will help people in need to recognise how they can make choices that will lead to a better life.

“There are key problems that prevent them from breaking out of these harmful patterns, so we have identified 8 topics that will be the backbone of our life skills programme in the training in the AHA programme. These are marriage, child rearing, friendship, which also means spending free time, administration, communication, employment and money management, time management,” CEO of Dorkas Service Foundation Ábel Lukács Kiss explained.

The Dorkász Service aims to help around 700 people in difficult circumstances this year through the new AHA programme.
