The City Day event will showcase the world of Hungarian wine’s essence

For exactly a decade, since 2015, the City of Debrecen and  Debrecen Winery (In Hungarian Debreceni Borozó) wine and gastronomy magazine have been selecting wines that are worthy of receiving the Debrecen City Wine award in 7 categories.

These noble wines can proudly wear the award for a year and represent the wine culture of the Carpathian Basin in a worthy manner. Most recently, experts selected this year’s winners from more than 450 wines from 120 wineries in 17 wine regions. Seven high-quality drinks can bear the title of Debrecen City Wine this year, which can be tasted in the city’s restaurants or purchased at the Tourinform office.

Joining the upcoming Debrecen City Day celebrations, there will also be a special, gastronomical, 7-course wine dinner event.  The wines of the City of Debrecen will be presented in a premium quality wine-food pairing on Wednesday, on the 9th of April at 6.00 p.m. in the Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center restaurant.

The special dishes dreamed up by Roland Balogh, the executive chef of the Hilton Debrecen, will be in perfect harmony with the wines, showing the essence of the world of Hungarian wine.

Pál Kovács, a wine academic recognised as the Friend of Winemakers, will complete the gastronomic experiences with his interesting stories and behind-the-scenes stories about the world of wine.

Thus, the evening will become a complex taste journey, where the passion of the seven wineries will be revealed, with the chef’s knowledge on the plate, and the couleur locale in the glass.
