Harro Höfliger’s factory under construction in Debrecen has reached its highest point

At the topping off ceremony, ceremony, it was announced that the large-scale investment will create the group’s largest production center outside of Germany in Debrecen, and that the number of local employees is expected to double as a result.

The festive wreath of the production hall of Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft. in Debrecen was placed more than 15 meters high. The foundation stone of the new home of the medical technology and pharmaceutical machinery company was laid last September, and construction reached its highest point on Tuesday. Thanks to the investment, the Debrecen plant will become the group’s largest plant outside Germany, and will soon provide jobs for twice as many people as before.

“Thanks to this hall investment, we will triple our current production hall capacity. At the moment we are working on 4,000 square metres, and thanks to this we will now be producing on an area of more than 12,000 square metres, which is a significant change.  Our goal is to not only increase the hall, but also the number of people working in it, and thus we are expected to double our current number within 1-2 years,” CEO, Csaba Juhász emphasised.

The German group is undergoing a significant transformation, instead of building structures, it is now producing unique machines. This will also be the case in the facility being built in Debrecen. According to the company’s CEO, Thomas Heckner, the Határ Road plant is an important stage in their transformation, and the investment reflects Harro Höfliger’s trust in Debrecen. “The fact that we are expanding our manufacturing capacities for building customised systems here in Debrecen shows how much we trust this place, the local infrastructure and, above all, the potential of our employees. We consider these factors to be the most important factors in our economic success,” he said.

Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa highlighted in his speech that the new factory hall of Harro Höfliger will create secure jobs for young professionals with recent degrees. “Building on what the University of Debrecen has created in recent years, for example, by developing the Faculty of Engineering, those young people who leave school will certainly find secure, creative and high-value-added jobs,” the Deputy Mayor highlighted.

According to plans, the construction will be completed this year, and production in the new plant may also begin.
