New logistics centre opened next to Debrecen International Airport
Ghibli Ltd., a freight forwarding and warehouse logistics company, has opened a new logistics centre in Debrecen, in the Southern Economic Zone. The hall, which is located near the international airport and covers almost 23,000 square metres, is planned to be used for finished goods storage from next month. It will both serve the local economy and ensure the continuity of the regional supply chain.
The finishing touches are being put on the monumental hall, which from May will be used primarily for the storage of finished goods by Ghibli Ltd., a company providing road, rail, sea and air freight transport, warehouse logistics and customs services.
“Debrecen will become a distribution logistics centre in Hungary, which will be able to supply not only the city but also the surrounding countries. So, logistically Debrecen is becoming a potential place, and we would like to participate in this,” Managing Director of Ghibli Ltd., Zoltán Szabó summarised.
The hall of almost 23,000 square metres has been designed by the Xanga Group using the latest industrial technology in a modern and sustainable way to meet the most modern logistical requirements. “In the last 25 years, we have not developed s such a service in Debrecen, as we have not seen market demand for such a large-scale, specialised service. However, today and based on our surveys, the large industrial companies coming here will and will be able to cost-effectively serve the market needs from special logistics big boxes in the future,” Chairman and CEO of Xanga Group, István Herdon said.
Mayor László Papp talked about the industrial, technological and logistics investments in the Southern Industrial Zone that will serve both to strengthen the local economy and to ensure the stability of supply chains at regional level. Ghibli Ltd. is also fulfilling this role. “The development of industry is inconceivable without the development of logistics. Production, manufacturing, the operation of supply chains, access to export markets – all this is unthinkable without efficient and modern logistics systems,” László Papp said.
Ghibli Ltd., together with the logistics centre in Debrecen, already operates on more than 120,000 square metres. They plan to lease two more warehouses this year and next year, which will double their storage capacity.
