First technicians in dual training graduate at the end of the year

Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (abbreviated as DSZC in Hungarian) reaches a milestone: the first technicians of the new training system graduate at the end of the year.

Interest in the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre is growing: around 1600 students will start their studies in autumn at one of the 11 institutions.

“I see several options at the Faculty of Engineering. I’m interested in mechatronics, especially the IT part, but I’ve also thought about continuing with mechanical engineering technology,” Ádám Balog told DTV.

At Mechwart, 204 students will finish their studies this year in grade 13, the first students of the renewed vocational training system. The technical students took an early school-leaving exam at the end of year 12, but did not graduate and continued their studies.

Now, at the end of year 13, they will take an exam and receive a technician diploma and a school-leaving certificate.

“The technicians who are now graduating are young people who are well prepared and have skills for the labour market. They have a huge opportunity in Debrecen, as jobs are constantly being created where they can find work,” Chancellor of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre, Zsolt Tirpák said.

The renewed vocational training system has restored the status of technical vocational training, which is one of the reasons why a total of 1,600 students applied to 11 institutions of the DSZC in the secondary admission procedure.

The Director-General pointed out that the sectors of information technology, catering and tourism, mechanical and automotive engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering were the most popular. The number of applicants could provide a solid basis for the economy in Debrecen.

“Once we have reached this number, we need to deliver quality training that can serve the needs of the economy. We can also see that the results and studies of the children coming to these sectors are getting better and better,” Director General of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre,” Sándor Szilágyi explained.

Students could apply to DSZC institutions in a total of 91 fields of study.
