Hotel Divinus*****Superior has offered a significant donation

Hotel Divinus*****Superior in Debrecen, whose owners are committed to social responsibility, is donating a significant amount of various furnishings and household items to those in need, with the cooperation of the member organisations of the Debrecen Charitable Board, including the Haláp Non-Profit Association for Children.

The donation was announced at a press conference by Director of Hotels ***** Superior József Márics, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen; Co-Chair of the Debrecen Charitable Board Diána Széles; Chair of the Debrecen Charitable Board Edit Bódor; and Chair of the Haláp Non-Profit Association for Children Dalma Berekméri at Hotel Divinus*****Superior on May 13, 2025.

As József Márics said, Divinus has undergone a major renovation in the past three years. Beyond the physical renovation, they also wanted to renew themselves spiritually. Thus, based on the decision of the owners, in the spirit of social responsibility, they decided not to sell the equipment and room furnishings that were replaced during the renovation of the five-star, superior category hotel but that are still of very good quality and will be excellently usable for many years, but to offer them to the most needy members of society through the civil organisations of Debrecen carrying out charitable activities. József Márics thanked the co-chair of the Debrecen Charitable Board Diána Széles, for her help in getting this donation to the right places. He also thanked his colleague, József Pécsi, the hotel’s technical manager, for drawing the hotel owners’ attention to the fact that it would be a good idea to donate the replaced items to a charitable cause.

Diána Széles highlighted that the Debrecen Charitable Board is able to help those in need through the donations received from well-intentioned donors. Therefore, the board would not be able to fulfill its mission and would not be able to complete the Caring City programme, if in addition to the support received from the Debrecen municipality, private individuals and businesses that take social responsibility seriously did not help with their donations. The deputy mayor mentioned that, apart from the Aquaticum Debrecen Thermal & Wellness Hotel, Hotel Divinus*****Superior is the first among the hotel industry and accommodation service providers to support the activities of the Debrecen Charitable Board, for which the hotel and the hotel owners deserve special thanks. This also shows that the Caring City programme is being implemented in Debrecen with an ever-widening collaboration. One group of those helped by this donation will be those supported by the Haláp Non-profit Association for Children, including families with children who have to walk several kilometres a day to get to school.

President of the Debrecen Charitable Board Edit Bódor emphasised that it is a great honour for the board to have managed to gain the trust necessary for potential supporters to use the board’s intermediary activities and the expertise of its member organisations’ staff when they want to help those in need. This fulfills the role of the Debrecen Charitable Board to create a bridge between donors and recipients. The board can guarantee that the donations will reach where they are needed most. Edit Bódor also spoke about the special fate of the items now donated: “So far, they have served the convenience of many people for a few days of hotel stays, and from now on they will serve the same way, only slightly differently: they will make the lives of families more convenient, more comfortable, of higher quality, and more beautiful, hopefully for a long time to come.” The president of the Debrecen Charitable Board also said that in addition to families, this donation will also go to social institutions.

On behalf of the member organisations of the Debrecen Charitable Board, President of the Haláp Non-Profit Association for Children Dalma Berekméri received the generous donation, consisting of objects of great value to the beneficiaries. As she said at the press conference, she hopes that this collaboration, this social responsibility, will be inspiring for others.

The donation, which includes furniture and household items that were replaced during the hotel’s recently completed comprehensive renovation programme but can still be used for a long time, includes bed bases, mattresses, mattress protectors, sheets, pillows, pillowcases, duvets, duvet covers, bedspreads, tablecloths, towels, bathrobes, blackout curtains, bathroom accessories, and many other household items. The total value of the approximately 2,000 items is approximately HUF 5-6 million. The continuous delivery of the donated items has begun.
