The work of excellent teachers was recognised in Debrecen

The Debrecen School District Centre, in keeping with tradition, also presented the Future of Generations Awards in 2025, but Ministerial Certificates of Appreciation and the Teacher Service Commemorative Medal were also presented at the Teachers’ Day celebration on May 30, 2025.

Every year on the first Sunday of June, we celebrate teachers. On this occasion, the Debrecen School District Centre, once again organised a celebration where teachers who do outstanding work were praised. Gabriella Hajnal has been enthusiastically teaching students for 4 decades, and now her work has been recognised with the Future of Generations Award.

“This really means my life to me from the point of view that I really love teaching, I love mathematics, and I always thought that we should give children everything. No matter where they are born, no matter what circumstances they are in, our task is to prepare them for life to the fullest,” President of the Klebelsberg Centre, Gabriella Hajnal said.

As Director of the Debrecen School District Centre László Türk put it in his speech at the Teachers’ Day celebration, “ Teachers accompany children on their path to adulthood, and alongside parents, they provide support for young people.

“This profession is not a profession that one does not take home with them. We cannot leave the impulses and situations that we face every day in the classroom, in the school,” László Türk emphasised.

“Debrecen’s education system is uniquely rich, thanks to which students can find the most suitable development opportunities for them in the city,” Mayor László Papp has already spoken about this. He added that amidst the challenges of the 21st century, the role that the city plays in the country’s education is of paramount importance, since knowledge does not come from itself. In order for children to be able to live with the ever-expanding opportunities, we need well-prepared teachers.

“You are the ones who give your energy, patience, attention, and love to children every day, put aside your own worries, and help and support students with kindness and understanding on the path of independent thinking and taking responsibility,” Mayor László Papp emphasised.

“The teacher is the soul of society and the spirit that shapes the future.” This is how László Pósán praised the teachers. The member of parliament added the government measures of recent years have sought to create better, more dignified conditions for their work.

“The salary increase programme launched in 2024 serves to financially appreciate teachers and strengthen their social prestige; the Bonis Bona Award for the Talents of the Nation rewards teachers who do outstanding work in talent development,” Member of Parliament László Pósán pointed out.
