The authority has stopped the trial operation of the battery industry company in Debrecen
A few days ago, Dehir wrote that Semcorp Hungary Ltd., a company that holds a leading position in the world market in the production of separator foils for electric car batteries, will begin a test run of emission point sources (mainly chimneys) at its Debrecen plant.
For six months, the composition of the substances generated and discharged at the point sources is continuously measured, and the results are sent to the county government’s environmental protection authority on a monthly basis, which monitors whether the amount of substances discharged is below the limit value.
If the environmental protection authority finds everything in order, then the technological trial run can start, and later the serial production, you could read in the article.
On June 18, the Department of Environmental Protection, Nature Conservation and Waste Management of the Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office (i.e. the environmental protection authority) published an announcement, according to which, in the procedure initiated in view of Section 26 of Government Decree 314/2005. (XII.25.) on the environmental impact assessment and the uniform environmental use licensing procedure, a decision was made regarding the Debrecen sites 0495/230 and 0495/232 (i.e. the Semcorp site).
According to the information of the Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office: the environmental protection authority determined from the measurement report prepared on the trial operation of the point sources of the separator foil plant of Semcorp Hungary Ltd. that 7 exceed the limit values specified in the unified environmental use permit.
The authority initiated proceedings for this reason and suspended the trial operation of the 7 point sources with immediate effect.
“This action also shows that the authority is constantly on the alert and immediately takes the strictest possible action to comply with environmental regulations, from which no company is an exception,” the authority announced.
