The Farmer Expo will be held at the end of August this year as well
Animal and machine shows, professional forums, roundtable discussions. This year, the Farmer Expo International Agricultural and Food Industry Exhibition will be held for the 34th time. The expo will be held between August 28 and 30.
This year, it will be the only domestic event where there will also be a breeding animal show.
“We believe that this is not only an opportunity, but also a responsibility and a kind of mission. If we have been serving agriculture for 34 years, then this year too we must do our part to help restore trust in the sector,” exhibition director of Farmer Expo László Vaszkó said.
As stated at the press conference, one of the serious consequences of the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic is the decline in demand for certain products.
At the Farmer Expo, they want to create an opportunity for farmers, researchers, veterinarians, decision-makers and market participants to jointly assess the difficulties. In total, the sector has suffered several billion in damage.
“These weaknesses must be reviewed and solutions must be found. This is one part, and the other is how to best remedy the actual damage. Direct farmers in the sheep sector suffered one and a half billion in damage,” the Rector’s Chief Advisor to the University of Debrecen András Jávor highlighted.
Last year, there were more than 250 exhibitors and 22 thousand participants at the Farmer Expo. The organisers expect similar interest at the Böszörményi Road Campus of the University of Debrecen this year.
