Press release
Today, on June 27, 2025, the call for tenders for the public procurement procedure entitled “Design and construction tasks for the industrial wastewater treatment plant and the further treatment facility for treated wastewater, as well as the capacity restoration of the existing municipal wastewater treatment plant” was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The development aims to restore the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant, which became necessary due to the municipal wastewater load resulting from the increased industrial and residential demand of Debrecen, and to implement a new, cost-effective, automated wastewater treatment and sludge treatment technology that ensures the professional and modern treatment of separately collected industrial wastewater generated in industrial parks. The facility for further treating treated wastewater enables the quality of the greywater produced from treated wastewater to be optimised, ensuring its widest possible use while keeping treatment costs low.
Within the framework of the contract, the following three project elements will be implemented in five phases:
- Design and construction of an industrial wastewater treatment plant complex
- Design and construction of a development element for a facility that further purifies treated wastewater
- Design and construction of the capacity restoration of an existing municipal wastewater treatment plant in one phase.
The investment will be financed using state support.
The Municipality of Debrecen is waiting for bids until August 14, 2025.
