Mosquito Control in Debrecen on July 1 and 2, 2025
The Municipality of Debrecen informs residents that ground-based chemical mosquito control will be carried out in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1 and 2, 2025, after sunset. The National Directorate General for Disaster Management organizes the operation. (Rain dates are July 3 and 4.)
The operation schedule is as follows:
- July 1 (Tuesday) – 4 vehicles will operate in the following areas: Újkert, Vénkert, Libakert, Sestakert, Józsa, Nyulas, Liget Residential Park, Akadémiakert, Köntöskert, Csigekert, Nagysándor-telep, Fészek Residential Park, Tócóskert, Tócóvölgy, Hatvan Street Garden, Vargakert, Postakert, Széchényi Garden, Tégláskert, Epreskert, and Kerekestelep.
- July 2 (Wednesday) – 4 vehicles will treat Kassai Road and surroundings, Júliatelep, Old Town, Csapókert, Meggyes, Szabadságtelep, Bihari Garden, Homokkert, József Attila-telep, and Lencztelep.
The schedule is subject to change due to weather or technical issues.
Chemicals used:
- Deltasect Plus 1.2 ULV or Deltasect Plus 20 ULV mosquito control concentrate.
- Applied in small quantities (0.6 litres/hectare).
- Targets only sensitive insects.
- Not harmful to humans or warm-blooded animals.
- Active ingredients degrade within a few hours.
Recommendations for residents:
- Collect or cover children’s toys, food, utensils, and laundry stored outdoors on the day of treatment.
- Keep windows and doors closed during and for 1 hour after treatment.
- Turn off ventilation systems that draw in outside air.
- Wash fruits and vegetables grown in treated areas before consumption or processing.
- Avoid staying near the treatment vehicles during operation.
To prevent mosquito breeding:
- Eliminate or cover standing water in containers and objects outdoors.
- Regularly empty or cover small stagnant water sources around buildings.
