Future actors got acquainted with the Debrecen theatre
First-year students of the University of Theatre and Film Arts can spend a week in Debrecen and its surroundings delving into the mysteries of the theatre and film professions.
At the summer academy, participants can engage in training and professional programs while forming new friendships and gaining valuable community experiences.
The freshmen of the University of Theatre and Film Arts had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the Csokonai National Theatre, which boasts a 160-year history, on August 8, 2025. This week, in addition to professional programs, the future first-year students also have the opportunity to build a community.
“I am looking forward to making friends and learning new things. I feel that everyone has put something into this, that they have struggled to be here, and I feel that I can learn something from each and every one of them,” first-year student Gyula Puskás expressed his expectations.
The goal of the schooling program is to provide young people, in addition to professional and cultural programs, with an introduction to the world about which they will later bring stories to the stage and film. Attila Vidnyánszky, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Theatre and Film Arts, spoke on this matter.
“The entire five-year training is structured in such a way that we continuously visit our most important cities and places, and the students get to know many very important, brilliant people,” Attila Vidnyánszky emphasised.
The institution is hosting its fifth extraordinary summer academy in Debrecen. This year, nearly 90 students from across the country participated in the program.
“We are always happy when students come to the city and get opportunities, knowledge, or experiences here. And we are especially happy when this is realized in various areas of culture and art,” Deputy Mayor István Puskás said.
The students were also greeted by Prof. Dr. Enikő Sepsi, the Rector of the University of Theatre and Film Arts, and Dániel Vadász, Deputy Director of the Csokonai National Theatre in Debrecen.
As part of the week-long summer academy, the students will also visit Hortobágy and Nagyvárad, among others.
