These events help to get you ready for the Debrecen Flower Carnival
It’s worth taking a quick look at the vibrant lineup of programmes in Debrecen this week! From cultural talks and creative workshops to musical performances and family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone.
Tuesday, August 12
- Curator’s tour by Tamás Don at the exhibition “Untold Stories – Fine Art Collections of Rural Museums 1989–2024” at the Modem from 5.00 p.m.
- Macramé workshop at the Újkerti Community House from 5.00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 13
- Children’s lullaby session – Class of Zsuzsi Horváth at the Újkerti Library from 9.30 a.m.
- Holiday crafts activities at the Józsai Community House from 10.00 a.m.
- Holiday “fabricator” – Summer creative playhouse adventures with varied activities and exciting games at the Borsos-villa from 10.00 a.m.
- Group sound bowl bath with Tibetan sound bowls and sound therapy tools at the Újkerti Community House from 5:30 p.m. Registration required!
- Joint exhibition guide by Miklós Borsik and Tibor Juhász at the photo exhibition entitled “Following the Steps” in DESz24 from 6.00 p.m.
- EDDA-musical – The Circle (Hungarian rock band) by Zsolt Gömöry–Attila Pataky–János Oravecz – The Szigliget Várudvari Summer Theatre performance in two parts at the Nagyerdei Open-Air Stage from 8.00 p.m. In case of rainy weather, the event will be held on August 14.
Thursday, August 14
- Holiday crafts activities at the Józsai Community House from 10.00 a.m.
- Creative craft playhouse sessions for young and old at the Nagymacsi Community House from 10.00 a.m.
- KreÁlom – Creative Workshop themed craft sessions at the Józsai Library from 10.00 a.m.
- Fun and party at the Aquaticum Strand from 2.00 p.m.
- Group sound bowl bath. With Tibetan sound bowls and sound therapy tools at the Borsos-villa from 5.00 p.m.. Registration required!
Friday, August 15
- Debrecen Flower Carnival – Carnival week until August 20.
- Meetings in the flower garden of love in the Memorial Garden until August 21.
- Two-day August “Only Design Fair “ (Csak Design Vásár) in the Nagyerdei Water Tower from 11.00 am.
- Visegrád Art Market – Happy to share in the Nagyerdei Water Tower.
- Opening of the temporary exhibition “The Journey of Gold – 700 Years of the Hungarian Gold Forint” at the Déri Museum from 5.00 pm.
- Evening walk at the Debrecen Zoo.
- Astronomy evening at the Agora from 8.00 pm.
- Night of the Classics– Ravel’s Stars. Kodály Philharmonic Concert on Kossuth Square from 9.00 pm.
Saturday, August 16
- Amazing Weekend (“Állati jó hétvége) – AQUAKIDS Animation at the Aquaticum Strand from 10.30 am.
- Elf Theatre – Paper theatre tale and creative corner for little ones at the Petőfi Memorial Library from 10.30 a.m.
- Visegrad Art Market – Happy to share at the Nagyerdei Water Tower.

- Night at the Debrecen Amusement Park
- Galiba Children’s Festival at the Debrecen Zoo until August 20.
- Exhibition and fair of cacti and other succulents at the Debrecen Zoo until August 20.
- Libertine Bookstore in Debrecen is 2 years old! Literary discussions, autographs, festive atmosphere from 10.00 am.
- Flower Garden – Handicraft programmes, music and dance shows and the exhibition of the Természettár (nature conservation society) entitled “A Thousand Butterflies Flies for You” at the Youth House on Simonffy Street from 6.00 p.m.
