This year, the Galiba Children’s Festival welcomes families to new locations

This year, the most popular accompanying event of the flower carnival, the Galiba Children’s Festival, will last four days. From August 16, 2025, Debrecen residents and tourists arriving in the city will be able to choose from eighty programs. This time, concerts, dance productions, and craft workshops will take place not only in the Nagyerdei Cultural Park but also in the city center.

This year, the Galiba Children’s Festival will once again be hosted by Hungary’s only classic amusement park and the zoo, and the programs will begin on August 16.

“There will be many dance groups, performers, and acrobats, and there will also be attractive opportunities for many, such as craft workshops or presentations,” the managing director of the Nagyerdei Cultural Park, Zoltán Váradi, emphasized.

The event’s announcement was held on August 11, 2025, in the Memorial Garden behind the Great Church, as, in addition to the Nagyerdei Cultural Park, the city center will also be the stage for the Galiba Children’s Festival.

The programs will take place continuously in the inner courtyard of the Old Town Hall and in Dósa nádor Square until August 19 and will be closed by the Galiba Children’s Carnival on Tuesday evening. Kindergartens and schools in Debrecen are preparing 16 flower floats for this occasion.

“Of course, dancing cannot be left out in addition to the small floats. Those dance groups for whom the 5.5 kilometers in a large parade would be a burden can now show how they can dance from Dósa nádor Square to the Memorial Garden,” managing director of Főnix Rendezvényszervező Kft. Zita Dobos said.

According to Deputy Mayor István Puskás, the Galiba Children’s Festival is a commitment to future generations.

“In order for Debrecen to remain Debrecen in the future, for future generations as well, we must start building it in the present. And in order for future generations to feel this city as their home and to be attached to Debrecen, it is worth starting to build these attachments at a very young age, the deputy mayor emphasized.

The Flower Carnival programs and the Galiba Children’s Festival events are available on this page, as well as in the Debrecen programs application.
