The transition to the new parking system in Debrecen was smooth

The director of DV Parking, András Fodor shared his experiences with the new parking system in MédiaCentrum’s program titled Debrecen Public Affairs.

The new parking system came into effect on August 1st. The managing director of DV Parking Kft., András Fodor, spoke about the experiences and the facilitations and also about public transport.

The new parking system in Debrecen has recently come into effect. The city’s parking system was divided into red, orange, blue, yellow, and green zones. The new parking system went into effect in the green zone on August 1 while the signs are still being replaced in the old zones. 2,700 telephone parking services have already been launched in this zone.

“The transition was smooth from this point of view; consumers found a way to use parking,” he emphasized.

The number of registered residents of Debrecen in the new system is over 15 thousand, and a lot of registrations are currently in progress. As he said, this discount, which was provided to the residents of Debrecen, is very popular.

In the case of passenger cars owned or operated by the employer and with a gross weight of less than 3 and a half tons, free parking is possible in the immediate vicinity of the residence upon presentation of an employer’s certificate.

“We process many such employer certificates. We received a lot of feedback from the public that many people use company cars, and the general meeting provided them with this relief. This is also in progress; customer service is under peak load.”

Another novelty is that the parking zones are marked with five colours, editor-in-chief of Médiacentrum Debrecen, Zsuzsa Keserű, asked how well motorists can identify which zone they are in.

“It is a new system that has put entire city districts under joint assessment. On the zone boundaries, at the exit and entry, we mark with colours which zone the motorist has entered. I think this is easy to follow because it is easy to distinguish them. In addition, we have placed many information boards where the tariffs can be found. The stickers indicating which zone the person is in have also been placed on the vending machines. We have tried to provide a lot of help to motorists,” he explained.

Local government representative Csaba Papp published a post about the positive feedback he had received regarding the new parking system.

“We have also received such feedback; I see that the parking lots are less saturated. I think the goal is to make it easier for residents to find a parking space, and this was a good solution for that.
