Night asphalting at the Külsővásártér – Széchenyi Street – Nyugati Street junction

The development of the Debrecen, Szoboszlói Road – Erzsébet Street– Miklós Street – Külsővásártér junction is progressing well. According to the contractor, the asphalt bonding layer will be built in the Külsővásártér – Széchenyi utca – Nyugati utca junction in the next phase.

The aim of the works is to bring the junction’s pavement level with the current pavement of Külsővásártér and Nyugati Street. This will allow traffic to be diverted to this new surface in the next phase of the construction, during the closure of the outer traffic lanes of Külsővásártér.

The asphalting will take place in three phases, with night work to minimize traffic disruption, on August 13-14-15, 2025.

Temporary traffic order at the Külsővásártér – Széchenyi Street – Nyugati Street junction:

1. August 13, 2025 – Closure of the downtown branch of Széchenyi Street

o Partial closure from 9:00 p.m., full closure from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. (after the last buses depart from the bus station).

o The affected section can only be entered from Külsővásártér by turning right.

o Entry from all other directions is prohibited; buses will operate on a diversion route.

2. August 14, 2025 – Closure of the central part of the junction

o Partial closure from 9:00 p.m., complete closure from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

o Left turns are prohibited from Külsővásártér and Nyugati Street.

o Only right turns are possible from Széchenyi Street from both directions.

3. August 15, 2025 – Closure of the branch of Széchenyi Street from István Street

o Partial closure from 9:00 p.m., complete closure between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

o Entry to the affected section from all directions will be prohibited.

o At the István Street – Széchenyi Street junction, traffic controllers will direct trucks and buses.

o At the Kürtös Street – Széchenyi Street intersection, all vehicles will be diverted towards Kishegyesi Street, also under the direction of traffic controllers.

Those driving on the affected road sections are kindly asked to drive with increased attention and follow the instructions of the temporary traffic rule signs and traffic controllers.
