Debrecen workplaces are invited to participate in the greenest team building activity

In the summer of 2019, the city council decided to establish the Sustainable Debrecen Award. The aim of the award is to recognize business organizations that perform high-quality, outstanding work in order to protect and develop the built and natural environment of Debrecen, to develop an environmentally conscious approach, and to keep environmentally conscious operations and sustainability in mind.

Since its launch, thirty organizations have received the award. In April 2022, the City Council introduced the Sustainable Debrecen Grand Prize, which is awarded annually to the community that earns the highest score. The prize is presented during a formal ceremony.

According to the latest call from Future of Debrecen, companies can now apply for the Sustainable Debrecen Award by creating a community garden. These gardens can be established not only in public urban spaces but also within workplace environments.

Legal entities and other communities operating in the city of Debrecen can submit applications, especially but not exclusively, highlighting budgetary bodies, business companies and individual entrepreneurs.

To win the award, applicants must implement a green measure worth at least 10 points or several green measures worth at least 10 points in total, the implementation of which must be supported in electronic form by providing the documents specified in the call for applications.

Applications can be submitted continuously throughout the year; there is no deadline, and there is no need to apply separately to win the Sustainable Debrecen Grand Prize. The recognition can be received by the organization or community that obtains the most points by October 15.

It is recommended to submit the application (due to the assessment process) no later than September 20 of the year in question. For further information, please contact fenntarthatodebrecendij@debrecen.hu.

“If you would like to garden with your colleagues, we have good news: your initiative can be recognized at the city level with the Sustainable Debrecen Award,” Future of Debrecen shared in its Facebook announcement.
