School supplies and computer equipment help children start school
Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft. donated computer equipment and school supplies to the Debrecen Charitable Board on September 3, 2025, at the DMJV Family and Child Welfare Center.
As Diána Széles, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen and Co-Chair of the Debrecen Charity Board, said at the event, “The board has been organizing a school supplies collection campaign every year since its establishment, which is 10 years old this year. Many thanks go to, among others, those domestic and international companies that help the city community in this regard with their donations. This can also strengthen Debrecen as a caring city. Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft., which has provided exemplary support to charitable activities in Debrecen on numerous occasions, would like to use its current donations to primarily help disadvantaged children and those living in large families through the organization, and among the 29 member organizations of the Debrecen Charity Board, the Debrecen Mosolyvirág Association of Large Families and the “For the Children in Haláp” Public Benefit Association will be involved. At the start of the school year, donated school supplies are always of great importance in the lives of families in need.”
Diána Széles also emphasized that the Municipality of Debrecen provides school start support to those in need every year, for which applications can be submitted to the social department of the mayor’s office. The Debrecen Charity Board can also ensure that if someone does not meet the conditions for school start support in some way but is obviously in need, they can also receive help. This is served, among other things, by the board’s school supplies collection campaigns.
Péter Kanizsár, HR manager of Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft., spoke about the fact that Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft., which designs and manufactures unique medical technology and pharmaceutical machines, has only been present in Debrecen for one year, but Manz Hungary Kft., which was purchased by the company, has been part of Debrecen’s cultural and social life since 2004. Social responsibility and supporting community causes are of utmost importance to the company, which is why it joined the Debrecen Charity Board’s fundraising campaign launched on the occasion of the start of school.
Péter Kanizsár emphasized that they have found a very good partner in the Debrecen Charity Board in the field of social responsibility, and the cooperation so far will certainly be followed by new joint actions. The HR manager called the work that the member organizations of the Debrecen Charity Board are doing with dedication to helping those in need exemplary, and Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft. is proud to be able to support this activity. As part of the current school supplies collection, the company and its employees donated school supplies worth a total of HUF 200-300 thousand, and a total of more than 50 laptops, desktop computers, and small personal computers that were replaced as part of the company’s comprehensive IT modernization but are still in excellent use were also included in the gift package.
Edit Bódor, the president of the Debrecen Charity Board, emphasized that it is very important for them to have partners and companions by their side whose hearts beat with them when they need help. She recalled that this year Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft. approached the board with an offer of help, and thanks to the collaboration that was formed with them, a charity film screening for children was held in April at the Apollo Cinema, provided by the Debrecen Charity Board and Főnix Rendezvényszervező Közhasznú Nonprofit Kft. (Főnix Event Organizer Public Nonprofit Ltd.) as a novel way to prepare for the Easter holiday and the spring break. Now it is very good to know that the cooperation continues, and the company has also become an active participant in the autumn school supplies collection.
Edit Bódor also drew attention to the fact that the Debrecen Charity Board’s school supplies collection campaign will continue in the first weeks of the already started school year, so for example, the collection will also take place in the schools of the Debrecen School District Center until September 12.
