Brassai Vocational Technical School provides half of the young people studying at the BMW Group Plant in Debrecen
On Friday, the latest car model being produced at the BMW factory in Debrecen, the Neue Klasse iX3, was presented at the pre-event of the Munich Motor Show. The creators believe that the car reflects the values conveyed by the company better than ever before.
“We saw the opportunity for a huge leap forward in development in every key area, from battery technology to digital user experience to computing performance. We had a unique opportunity to rethink and reinterpret the car. This was the time of pioneers. The perfect BMW moment,” highlighted Oliver Zipse, CEO of the BMW Group.
Three hundred students studying in vocational training can participate in the production process of BMW’s latest model.
Roland Vajta, a 10th-grade student at the Brassai Vocational Technical School, may have the opportunity to join the training program next year, which would fulfill his great desire. As he says, he is always up to date with current events, and he also followed the live broadcast on Friday.
“I have been interested in car assembly since I was a child. I always played games that involved car assembly, and I was interested in quite a bit of detail. It would be a dream if I could get into BMW,” he emphasized.
157 students from the Brassai Vocational Technical School are participating in the dual training of BMW and the Debrecen Vocational Training Center.
Admission to the program is preceded by a serious selection process.
“They write a test, solve practical tasks, and participate in an interview. So this is a pretty serious selection process. And those who meet this can enter BMW’s dual training. And they can actually study there for three years,” said Erzsébet Demeterné Orosz, director of the Brassai Sámuel Vocational Technical School.
In terms of automotive training, the number of students has doubled in the past ten years, thanks to the sector’s growth in the city. Zsolt Tirpák, Chancellor of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center (DSZC), spoke about this in the program Debrecen Public Affairs on the Media Center.
“The arrival of BMW meant a paradigm shift in vocational training in Debrecen. After all, this resulted in the region taking notice. Obviously the whole country, but in terms of enrollment, the region. We also crossed county borders in terms of enrollment in a very short time,” he summed up.
At the world premiere, it was confirmed that series production will start in Debrecen this year. And they plan to launch additional new models by 2027.
