Works of the III. Debrecen Synagogue Gallery artist colony in a shared exhibition space
Visual artist Eszter Láng invited nationally recognized artists of Jewish origin or who approach and present themes related to Judaism with dignity to create their works.
On Tuesday, September 9, the III. Synagogue Gallery artist colony began its work.
The curator of the Debrecen Jewish Community and its gallery, visual artist Eszter Láng, addressed nationally recognized artists of Jewish origin or who approach and present themes related to Judaism with dignity and invited them to create their works.
The aim of the artist colony is for contemporary artists to engage in dialogue with each other and with the values of Jewish culture, religion, and tradition, and to bring the visual expressions of Jewish identity and memory closer to the wider community.
The participants of the event could also get acquainted with the inspiring environment of the Jewish Quarter of Debrecen, the masterpieces of the kosher cuisine of the religious community, and the characteristics of the city’s cultural life and gastronomy.
The artist colony will conclude with a group exhibition, the opening of which is on Monday, September 15, at 5.00 p.m. at the Synagogue Gallery in Debrecen, on Pásti Street. The exhibition is expected to be on display until November 15.
