László Papp announced on his Facebook page that they agreed that the government will play a role in financing the city’s public transport, and in addition to Budapest, Debrecen will also receive the support necessary to maintain public transport.
An agreement was also reached to continue cooperation in the development of the Debrecen International Airport. The runway design process is currently underway, and after its completion, the government will support the construction of the new runway.
They also agreed on the renovation, expansion, and construction of dormitories of the three large secondary schools belonging to the Debrecen Vocational Training Center (Brassai, Beregszászi, and Mechwart) and on providing the necessary funds for this.
They also agreed to continue water management and water infrastructure development programs that are extremely important for the city.
“The continuation of Civaqua II is a top priority for both the government and the local government. We also agreed that the government will provide the necessary funds for the large-scale water infrastructure development affecting the eastern part of the city; the planning procedure for this program is currently underway.”
There was also agreement that the ongoing large-scale museum developments in Debrecen will continue as planned. In the case of both the Museum of Transport and the Hungarian Natural History Museum, the government is committed to implementing the development program. The related tasks will be coordinated with the Ministry of Construction and Transport in the coming weeks.
