Witness a breathtaking wildlife event—the autumn migration of thousands of cranes across the skies of Hortobágy. Join expert-led tours departing from the Hortobágy National Park Visitor Centre, where nature lovers can experience the magic of cranes returning to their roosting sites at sunset. 

During the program, participants will have the opportunity to observe cranes returning to their night roosting sites in the Hortobágy National Park!

Four-wheeled in the footsteps of cranes (sunset  tours)

Program includes:

• Ticket purchase at the Visitor Centre info desk
• Screening of the educational film “The Crane Soars in the Sky”
• Brief tour introduction
• Field observation led by expert guides (location varies depending on crane movement, up to 20–30 km from Hortobágy)

Good to Know:

• Own vehicle (standard passenger car) is necessary
• Groups over 20 people are not accepted on weekends
• Tours take place even in bad weather—bring rain gear and wear neutral-colored clothing
• Flash photography and loud behavior are prohibited
• Recommended items: binoculars, camera, layered clothing, comfortable shoes, mosquito repellent
• No pets allowed
• Minimum group size: 10 people
• Participation is at your own risk
• Organizers reserve the right to change program details

October 11–12 – 3.30 p.m.
October 18–19 – 3.30 p.m.
October 23–25 – 3.00 p.m.

The tours end at sunset; return with your own vehicle.

Ticket Prices:

Adults: 3,200 HUF
Children (ages 3–18): 2,500 HUF
Family (2 adults + 3 children): 9,100 HUF
