Bursa Hungarica Higher Education Municipal Scholarship Application – 2026

The Municipality of Debrecen has once again joined the current round of the Bursa Hungarica higher education municipal scholarship program for 2026.

The application form is available from October 3, 2025, in the Bursa Hungarica Electronic Application Management and Cooperation System (EPER-Bursa system), can be downloaded from the website www.debrecen.hu, and from the above date, the information material can be collected from the Mayor’s Office of the City of Debrecen (New City Hall, 4026 Debrecen, Kálvin Square 11, floor customer reception area) at customer service window number 2. The deadline for submitting the application is November 4, 2025. Information can be requested by calling (+36) 52 517 690 and by emailing intezmenyfelugyeleti@ph.debrecen.hu.

According to the call for applications, young people with a disadvantaged social situation can apply for two types of scholarships.

  • Type “A” scholarship applications can be submitted by those higher education students with a disadvantaged social situation residing in the territory of the local government who are enrolled in a higher education institution (under a higher education student status) and are pursuing full-time (daytime schedule) studies in a bachelor’s program leading to a degree and qualification, a master’s program leading to a degree and qualification, an undivided program, or a higher education vocational training program.

The duration of the scholarship is 10 months, two consecutive semesters of study (the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year and the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year).

  • Type “B” scholarship applications can be submitted by those young people with a disadvantaged social situation residing in the territory of the local government who, in the 2025/2026 academic year, are final-year secondary school students preparing for graduation or graduates who do not hold a higher education degree and have not yet been admitted to a higher education institution, and starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, they intend to pursue full-time (daytime schedule) studies at a higher education institution in a bachelor’s program leading to a degree and qualification, an undivided (single-cycle) program, or a higher education vocational training program.

The duration of the scholarship is 3×10 months, six consecutive academic semesters (2026/2027 academic year, 2027/2028 academic year, and 2028/2029 academic year).

Only those applicants who are admitted to a higher education institution for the first time in the 2026 admission process and who actually begin their studies in the 2026/2027 academic year will be eligible for a scholarship.
