Halloween programs in Debrecen

As Halloween approaches, Debrecen is once again bursting with spooky and fun-filled events for all ages. From candy hunts and costume parties to haunted tram rides and horror movie marathons, the city offers something thrilling at every turn.

Where to find the most haunting vibes? Here’s the lineup:

4th Halloween Street Festival

On Friday, October 24, starting at 6 p.m., Batthyány Street will be filled with music, laughter, and, of course, a little bit of a scare for the fourth time.

  • Restaurants offer special, themed offerings, and shops dress up in witty decorations. Street institutions also join in the fun, offering candy collections, games, and surprises for children and young people dressed in costumes.
  • Participation is free.
  • More information can be found at the event’s Facebook page or at Debrecen4u’s site here: https://debrecen4u.hu/events/4th-halloween-festival/.

4th Halloween Walk at the Shelter

The Together for Animals Association is organizing its thematic autumn walk for the fourth time.

  • On Saturday, October 25, starting at 2.00 p.m., visitors will not only be able to walk the dogs, but the organizers are also preparing a fair, a visit to the shelter, and an open cat house.
  • The detailed program will be published on the event’s Facebook page soon.

Halloween at the Amusement Park

The Debrecen Amusement Park is preparing for a special Halloween evening on Friday, October 31.

  • From 4.00 p.m., where visitors can take part in night adventures on illuminated games, taste Halloween treats, and, in addition to face painting, also get into the costume maze, where everyone can have fun all evening long and there will be also prize for the best costume.
  • More information about the programs can be found here.

Halloween party at the library

The Méliusz Juhász Péter Library is not left out of the Halloween program series, as they are waiting for children with a full-day program in the children’s section of the library on Tuesday, October 28.

  • The organizers are preparing some terrifyingly good games, terribly good craft tasks, and a storytime screening from 5.00 p.m. throughout the morning and afternoon.
  • More about the event can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

“HaverVagy” Halloween (“You are a Pal”)—Debrecen’s friendliest death party

On October 31st, Deluxe will host the second HaverVagy Halloween party in Debrecen, which was such a success last year that it will return this year in a terrifyingly funny atmosphere.

  • All kinds of costumed characters are expected for the program, including zombies, vampires, witches, and horror heroes, but even the entire repertoire of “death figures.”
  • The special feature of the party is the clique-free buddying, where participants are drawn to tables of 4–5 people, and new groups are formed every 30 minutes—so lots of new acquaintances and laughter are guaranteed.
  • After the clique-free part, the house party starts, where the dressed-up and “just watching” scared people can party together, and DJ Lina will also provide the crazy music for the evening.
  • More information about the details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

Halloween Park Debrecen

This year, Halloween Park Debrecen awaits visitors for three days in the Forgotten Castle, on October 25-26 and 31.

  • The daytime programs on the 25th and 26th focus on families, as they await visitors with children’s and family programs from 10.00 a.m.
  • From 5.00 p.m., Trick or Treat awaits adults, where the most popular horror characters will test the participants with various tasks.
  • On October 31, from 6.00 pm, Trick or Treat and intensified fear!
  • More information about the event can be found at the event’s Facebook page or at Debrecen4u’s site here: https://debrecen4u.hu/events/halloween-park-debrecen/

Horror on the tram

On Saturday, October 25, the Ghost Ride (“Lidércjárat” ) organized by Nagyerdei Kultúrpark will start its journey!

  • The tram leaves from the Petőfi Square stop at 4.00 pm.
  • After this, on October 31, DKV will launch a unique nostalgia trip for the first time: a Bengali tram will fly passengers into the darkness, accompanied by moonlight. Mystical lights, mysterious corners, and chills await those interested in the decorated vehicle.
  • Participation is free, but registration is required by sending an email with your name and the exact number of people to attend to the email address: marketing@zoodebrecen.hu.

Dark cinema hall, popcorn, and creepy films

On Halloween night, Apollo Cinema once again awaits horror fans for a marathon movie night.

  • The Night of Fear is being organized for the tenth time, during which horror films will be screened all night in all three halls.
  • More details about the event can be found on the event’s: Facebook page
