Donations are once again being welcomed this year for the city’s Christmas tree

This year’s Debrecen Christmas tree may be standing right next to you. Anyone with a pine tree at least 15 meters tall in their garden or on their property can offer it to become the centerpiece of Debrecen’s holiday celebrations.

Every year, a donated pine tree symbolizes the common Christmas celebration in the city center, on Kossuth Square, in front of the Great Church.

This year, Debrecen continues its cherished tradition: if someone has a pine tree at least 15 meters tall in their garden or on their property, they can offer it to be the city’s main Christmas tree. Applications are welcome from all districts of Debrecen.

The municipality will provide the tree’s cutting and safe transportation. The most beautiful holiday trees will be examined based on the applications received.

How to apply:

Applications must be submitted via email to omaisz@ph.debrecen.hu no later than October 31.

To offer a pine tree for decorating Kossuth Square this holiday season, the following details must be submitted:

  • Exact address and phone number
  • A photo of the tree
  •  A short personal story connected to the tree

The festive lights will be switched on November 30, the first Sunday of Advent, bringing warmth and holiday spirit to the heart of the city. Applications are welcome from all districts of Debrecen.
