Students at the Faculty of Engineering in Debrecen now have access to a renovated laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment
Students can acquire practical knowledge in the most advanced industrial technology environment at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen. On Monday, a renovated laboratory was inaugurated in the newest wing of the faculty, where students can get acquainted with the most modern industrial automation systems.
The devices in the modernized and expanded Bechkoff laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen represent the most modern industrial technology. They will play a decisive role not only in training but also in research and development. ”In addition to undergraduate training, the laboratory also offers new opportunities for master’s and doctoral training. To this end, separate MSc-level practice stations have also been created, which are equipped with servo drives, machine vision systems, and analytical and safety technology modules,” emphasized Sándor Hajdu, head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics.
The lab was established six years ago. Thanks to its recent renovation, students can get acquainted with the most modern industrial automation systems. Instead of the previous 18, the workshop can now accommodate more than 30 young people. “This place is not only a space for education but also a workshop for future engineers. And the workshop for future engineers is not just a technological space and an intellectual home. A place where young people learn that technology is more than a multitude of machines; technology is a way of thinking, a worldview, and a system of values,” drew attention to György Kossa, chairman of the board of trustees of the Gróf Tisza István Foundation for the University of Debrecen.
According to Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa, students can only acquire competitive and up-to-date knowledge if industrial players are also involved in education. “The city and the University of Debrecen must cooperate in a strategic partnership. However, in this strategic partnership, this is not a bilateral relationship but a tripartite relationship, since in addition to the university and the city, we also count on representatives of companies. After all, if we do not involve companies in these development ideas, then we practically do not respond to market demands,” Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa pointed out.
Bechkoff Automation Kft. is one of the oldest strategic partners of the Faculty of Engineering; they have been working together for ten years. The company has now also created a training room in addition to modernizing the laboratory. The entire investment was realized with a cost of HUF 340 million, in cooperation with the university and the company.
