These Debrecen fairs bring the spirit of Advent closer
In November, even before the Advent rush opens, several fairs are being held in Debrecen, where you can already find Christmas gifts.
In November, Debrecen’s Great Forest awaits antique lovers, where, true to its nearly two-and-a-half-decade-long tradition, a treasure hunt is being offered to collectors and nostalgia lovers in the parking lot of Nagyerdei Stadium.
On Sunday, November 23, visitors can take part in a real, time-journey and browse among works of art, retro objects, and collector’s items at the Debrecen Antiques Fair; among these they can find pendants, watches, antique furniture, paintings, and old special books.
Gastronomy lovers can once again indulge themselves in delicacies at the Church Yard Fair on Leány Street, which awaits visitors on the third Saturday of every month, next on Saturday, November 15, from 8.00 a.m. at Leány Street 2-4.
The fair offers an excellent opportunity to buy fresh and quality products from local producers and artisans at reasonable prices. In addition to the delicacies, the organizers also offer a book exchange point for those interested, where they can choose from hundreds of books.
Among the participants are local farmers such as Tóth Méhészet from Mikepércs, Gyugos Sajt from Derecske, and Gerda Bakery from Debrecen.
The “Only Design Fair” (Csak Design Vásár) once again brings the festive atmosphere of creation, inspiration, and local values to Debrecen. The Méliusz Central Library is waiting for interested parties at its usual location on Saturday, November 15, between 11.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
The event is not just about shopping: it offers a real community experience, where Debrecen residents can personally support local artisans and small entrepreneurs while choosing from unique, quality products.
No long wait for hot chocolate and chimney cake (kürtőskalács), as the Debrecen Advent Fair opens on Friday, November 28, which awaits visitors with grandiose decorative lighting, a unique product range, and a festive atmosphere until December 23.
The first holiday concert starts at 5.00 p.m. on Kossuth Square, but at 9.00 a.m. the Fairytale City opens on Dósa Pádor Square, and the courtyard of the Old Town Hall also opens, which helps visitors get in the mood for Christmas under the title “Advent Silence—Light and Music Experience.”
During the Advent Fair, the organizers will treat visitors to colorful concerts and performances, and for the first time this year, the Ice Flower Carnival.
