Recruitment on the rise at BMW Group Plant Debrecen
The Bavarian brand’s Debrecen plant is looking for specialists in great numbers, as demand for the iX3 is exceptionally strong and the iX4 is underway.
The iX3, which is being produced in Debrecen, was officially presented barely two months ago, and the demand for the model, which is made with completely new technology, is already amazing.
Világgazdaság (Hungarian economic and business online portal) reports that pre-orders for the electric SUV will last until 2026, while the range may also be expanded with a sporty M version.
The iX3 is the first representative of the Neue Klasse platform, and it seems that BMW has already managed to create something lasting from the very first time, the portal mentioned, and added that the iX3 is the first representative of the Neue Klasse platform, which is the result of an investment of more than EUR 10 billion. The project, from batteries and electric drives to the new iDrive X system, forms the basis for the future of the entire brand.
Series production has recently started in Debrecen, the first European deliveries are expected next spring, and the iX3 may arrive in the USA a few months later, in the summer. But 2026 holds more than just that for the Bavarian brand, as the extended wheelbase version will also begin production in China, at the Shenyang plant, and from 2027 the San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico will also join the production, where the standard wheelbase version can be made.
“The range currently consists of a single version, the iX3 50 xDrive, but the manufacturer has already announced that cheaper models, such as the 40 xDrive and 40 sDrive, will also join the range,” summarized Világgazdaság.
Moreover, it was also highlighted that at the other end of the range, a real M model was recently discovered testing, which will probably be joined by an M Performance version (M60) to bridge the gap with the regular models.
Another BMW model made in Debrecen will arrive soon, namely the iX4, which could debut on the market in 2026. The model, codenamed “NA7,” will have a sportier, sloping roofline than the traditional SUV. Although the brand expects the iX3 to sell in larger numbers, the demand for the iX4 will also be sufficient for the economical operation of production.
The demand for electric cars, which have been produced in Debrecen since September, is so high that BMW has to expand, which is why they are carrying out a huge recruitment drive.
“BMW management has pretty much all its hopes in this new model, and it could also be one of the breakout points of the Hungarian economy,” highlighted Világgazdaság.
