Debrecen’s Role in Linking Europe with the Adriatic and the Balkans
Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa represented Debrecen in Belgrade in recent days, participating in the Logistics Pulse of the Region 2025 conference and discussing the planned developments with transport and logistics leaders from Europe and the Western Balkans.
How can Europe, the Adriatic, and the Balkans be connected more efficiently? And how does Debrecen benefit from this?
“This is a huge opportunity for Debrecen, because the export connection with the Adriatic ports will be strengthened, more investors can come to the city, the competitiveness of local businesses will improve, new jobs and higher wages can be created, and Debrecen will become an even more important logistics hub in Central Europe,” he shared on his social media page.
“I am proud that Debrecen is now in the world’s TOP 10 in FDI strategy—alongside New York, Berlin, and Dubai. We are further strengthening this position by being present at all such prestigious international forums and building relationships,” he summed up. In a previous post reflecting on his journey to Belgrade, he noted that the deputy president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also listened with appreciation that Hungary pays the lowest energy prices in the EU for both residential customers and businesses.
