“Angel Shot” emergency cocktail now available in Debrecen
If you feel you are in danger, just ask for this at the bar counter, and the staff will help you.
“Following the launch of our campaign against violence toward women, we were contacted by GarconGo offering to join in by embedding an “Angel Shot” button into their ordering software used in restaurants. This distress signal is now a part of monitor, tablet, and phone interfaces used for taking orders in a number of restaurants and clubs in Hungary,” said Budapest-based Billog Burger Bar in a Facebook post.
The idea is that, if someone orders the “distress cocktail,” the waiter presses a button which sends out a call for help across all of the restaurant’s devices. Even the printers print out a note that tells all staff to call the police and help protect the person in danger.
This system actually saved the life of a 17-year-old girl at Billog, after a regular customer ordered an Angel Shot not for themselves, but for the minor girl next to them who had just been assaulted by a man at a bus stop.
“In the wake of that incident, the secret distress password ‘Angel Shot’ has been introduced in more than 500 hospitality venues in Hungary and is now also available in Debrecen,” as announced by HALL in a post.
