Debrecen hosts Hungary’s largest countryside wine tasting event
The focus is on strengthening Hungarian wine culture, presenting the diversity of varieties and the characters of the wine region to the general public. The country’s largest rural wine tasting will be held in Debrecen, and the city’s wines will also be there.
The Debrecen Wine Festival (Debreceni Bormustra) is a prominent wine cultural program in Debrecen. Hungary’s largest rural wine tasting is synonymous with a high-quality and good-natured event, where interested parties can talk to winemakers in person and enjoy Hungarian and international wines made in a variety of styles.
The program organized in the Csokonai Forum represents moderate, gastronomic wine consumption while focusing on strengthening Hungarian wine culture, presenting the diversity of varieties and the characters of the wine region to the general public.
In 2012, the editorial team of Debrecen Wine Bar Magazine (Debrecen Borozó Magazin) decided to give the wineries that performed best in its tests the opportunity to show their most beautiful wines to the general public every November. The Debrecen Wine Lovers’ Society (Debrecen Borbarátok Társasaga) and Debrecen Wine Bar Magazine are most proud of the fact that interest in the event grows year after year.
This year, on Saturday, November 29, from 3:00 p.m., 150 wines from 50 wineries across 20 wine regions in four countries will be presented.
The general public can taste the offerings of the wineries that won the Debrecen City Wine 2025 title in January this year, the winning entries of the Carpathian Basin Reformed Winemakers and Winemakers (BORUM), as well as the award-winning wines of the National Organic Wine Competition this year. Italian and Spanish wineries will also participate as guests of honor at the Debrecen Wine Festival.
