Seven thousand native saplings will be planted on one-hectare in the Great Forest

In the spirit of social responsibility, Nádudvari Élelmiszer Kft. has been supporting the afforestation work of Nyírerdő Nyírségi Erdészeti Zrt. (Nyírerdő Nyírségi Forestry Ltd.) for the third year in a row. The cost of the current planting is covered by the food industry company. The company supports forestry work within the framework of the #mitehetünktöbbet campaign. Part of the campaign is also a competition to encourage regular exercise among young people, the award ceremony of which was held on Tuesday.

After the presentation of the most important rules of tree planting, many people took up shovels in the Debrecen Great Forest. Almost 7 thousand native tree seedlings are planted on the one-hectare area enriched with gray and black poplar and field linden. The participants in the tree planting came from different parts of the country, as Nádudvari Élelmiszer Kft. announced a competition within the framework of the #mitehetünktöbbet campaign. The winners jointly planted the saplings, each receiving their own plot.

The #mitehetünktöbbet campaign was launched by the food industry company three years ago in the spirit of social responsibility, part of which is supporting the work of forestry, and the other is an annual call for applications, for which organizations that encourage young people to play sports were now able to submit applications. 218 applications were received for the call, of which 15 organizations received support. Nádudvari Élelmiszer Kft. invested HUF 10 million in the project.

“We always want to draw attention to some important topic. Now we see that children’s sports are particularly important these days, and we want sports to be a part of their lives to prepare them for later life,” emphasized Ádám Nagy, Managing Director of Nádudvari Élelmiszer Kft.

Nyírerdő Zrt. is the largest forest manager in the Northern Great Plain. Tibor Hidas, the CEO of the organization, said that Nádudvar Élelmiszer Kft. set an example for companies when it joined in supporting afforestation three years ago. Since then, many other companies have joined and are following this example. “This has an attitude-shaping effect, which we, as state forest managers, continuously carry out in forest schools and similar places, and we are always happy to welcome related companies and organizations to our company,” he added.

The forest renewal period at forest departments lasts from November to March. New saplings can thus be planted in place of the harvested trees.
